WiFi pda
What is WiFi? It stands for "Wireless Fidelity" wherein, in a network people are able to access the Internet and stay connected without cables. But sadly, this cannot happen from everywhere. At least not yet! The places from where this is possible are referred to as hotspots.
What is a PDA? A PDA is a "Personal Digital Assistant". It is actually a handheld computer or personal organizer device. A typical PDA can also function as a cellular phone and a fax sender. PDAs were pioneered by Apple Computer, which introduced the Newton MessagePad in 1993. In the earlier days, most PDAs were pen-based, using a stylus rather than a keyboard for input. Some PDAs can also react to voice input by using voice recognition technologies. However the PDAs of today are available in both stylus and keyboard versions.
And now, PDAs are WiFi enabled making them WiFi PDAs. They are a rage these days with several companies having come out with one. And every month a new model is being launched in the market, much like what happened in the mobile phone industry a few years back. From time to time, companies are adding new features to value add to their WiFi PDA.
Using such amazing devices, users are able to send and receive emails, go on the Internet and search online, play MP3 music and MPEG movie files as also download all such files and other information from the Internet. Such PDAs can carry out word processing and also integrate such sophisticated items like digital cameras. WiFi PDAs that have been certified to use the official WiFi logo are interoperable with any other product that also carries the logo.
The basic features of a WiFi PDA include a data book, address book, memo pad and task list. It can store contact information, take down memos, keep track of schedules, remind the user of engagements and carry out calculations like a calculator as well.
