VOIP gets cheaper because of Verizon price war

Verizon, who is behind in the VOIP wars to industry leader Vonage has a plan to woo consumers. Their plan isn't new, it's to lower prices on VOIP and appeal to the pocketbooks of potential customers.

This price war promises to suck in other VOIP companies, as well, lowering the price for everyone. VOIP is about to get even more popular than it already is.

LOTS OF PLAYERS. Bigger telcos aren't the only ones gunning for Vonage. Smaller VoIP players have been lowering prices as well. In December, startup SunRocket introduced a VoIP service costing only $9.95 a month. Until then, the lowest-priced VoIP service could be had for around $15. Other kinds of VoIP services, such as Skype, actually offer PC-to-PC calling for free, and will, over time, compete with Vonage and its ilk more directly

Price wars are good for the consumer, so expect even more offerings with even more features coming your way in the next few months.
