Verizon Wireless Launches Broadband Network In Flagstaff, Arizona

For people in Flagstaff, Arizon, internet access just got a whole lot quicker. Verizon Wireless continues to expand at a breakneck pace, and Arizon residents can now expect a ton of great new features that weren't available to them.

The new capabilities come with the expansion of the company's Evolution- Data Optimized (EV-DO) network, enabling both its BroadbandAccess and V CAST services. Customers in Flagstaff now have access to the same high-speed Verizon Wireless services that have been available in metropolitan Phoenix and Tucson, and launched earlier this month in Prescott, Payson and Casa Grande.

How fast is this new Verizon Wireless Broadband network?

The average access speed is 400-700 kilobits per second (kbps), which means users can download a 1 Megabyte e-mail attachment -- which is a pretty big file -- in about 20 seconds. Contrast this to slower forms of service and the EV-DO network comes out ahead.
