Posted by admin, Tue, 09 Jan 07 09:48:35 -0500

Soon more people than ever in the greater Montgomery, Alabama area will have access to a Verizon Wireless Broadband network. This will enable local people to use their mobile devices to access the internet. This is part of a large Alabama presence which now services Birmingham, Mobile, and Huntsville in the company's coast-to-coast broadband network. Residents will no have access to BroadbandAccess and V CAST, Verizon's two major wireless services.

"As the state capital, Montgomery is an important market with dynamic, tech-driven businesses, strategic government offices and an increasing number of mobile data consumers," said Jim McGean, president of Verizon Wireless' Alabama / Georgia Region. "The expansion of our broadband network provides access to the very latest wireless technology that delivers mobile professionals a desktop experience out of the office and consumers access to premiere entertainment services including downloadable music, high-quality videos and advanced gaming."

This particular plan will end up covering a great part of the Greater Montgomery area.

Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess expansion delivers more than 1,400 square miles of coverage, stretching from Montgomery north up I-65 to the Chilton County line and south on I-65 to the Lowndes County line. Customers now have coverage at the Montgomery Regional Airport and along US Highway 80 west to the Lowndes County line. Coverage also stretches along I-85, from Montgomery to Shorter including the City of Tallassee, extending along US Highway 231 from north of Lake Jordon south, through Montgomery to the Pike County line.

The best part is when a customer travels out of the EV-DO area, they will still be able to communicate with the rest of the Verizon Wireless Network with no real problem. Verizon Wireless EV-DO coverage is now available to an incredible 200 million people.
