Verizon Wireless has completed massive upgrades to its' network in New York, at the cost of $350 million in 2006. This is part of $2 billion spent in the region since 2000.
The investment in New York City; Long Island; Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties; and Northern and Central New Jersey is part of more than $35 billion invested across the nation in the past seven years. Local network enhancements included adding and upgrading cell sites and a new switching facility to improve call handling capacity and quality, increase coverage and expand wireless broadband services for business and consumer use.
Verizon Wireless is continously updating its' network to provide high speed internet and FiOS TV service to customers.
