Cingular Teams Up With PADRES To Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Today Cingular announced that they are teaming up with a number of organizations to fight against childhood cancer. This promotion will help families with children that are battling various forms of cancer.
The campaign is a partnership between PADRES, Cingular Wireless, Univision 34 (KMEX-TV) and Unified Western Grocers. The primary objectives of the six- week joint effort include raising funds for PADRES' programs through donations at Cingular Wireless retail stores, educating the community about childhood cancer, and motivating Latinos to donate bone marrow.
"Grappling with childhood cancer affects more than just the patients; it affects the immediate family and the communities in which they live," said Elvia Barboa, CEO of PADRES Contra El Cancer. "Our unique partnership with Cingular Wireless, Univision 34 (KMEX-TV) and Unified Western Grocers provides us a powerful platform to reach the public and get them engaged, so we can give these children and their families more than hope. I know that 20 dollars, multiplied by hundreds, will positively impact thousands of families."
53 Cingular locations in California will be accepting cash donations for the cause, and for every $20.00 donated, Cingular will provide a $20.00 savings voucher towards a Go-phone or other qualifying cell phone handset or $20.00 of groceries from participating grocers. Those that donate will also receive a limited edition "Answer Hope's Call" Esperanza Cingular phone charm to show their support of the cause. Cingular will also host a blood marrow drive at their newest state of the art store in Huntington Park on December 1, 2007.
If you live in California, please be sure to support this initiative to help families fighting childhood cancer.
