Cingular To Offer HBO Latino Programming To 3G Cell Phones

Today Cingular announced that they are going to start offering HBO Latino programming to subscribers that have 3G cell phones and 3G network capabilities. Some of the programming that's available include El Perro y El Gato which teaches English and Spanish vocabulary to kids, Habla Mas which features anecdotes and real life accounts of what it means to be Latino in the U.S., with dialogue in Spanish, English and Spanglish.

"We are very familiar with the tastes and preferences of the Hispanic market and we're constantly introducing products and services that will allow our customers to stay connected with the key components of their lifestyle using their Cingular Wireless phones," said Roberto Garcia, executive director of Hispanic Marketing. "We know that HBO Latino programming is important to our segment, so we decided to bring it to their cellular handsets so that they can enjoy it anytime, anywhere."

A subscription to Cingular's mobile service is required to access programming at a cost of $4.99 a month. Subscribers can also access full length episodes of other HBO programs including Sex and The City, Real Time with Bill Maher and Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam.
