AT&T stages South Florida network disaster recovery drill

Posted by admin, Tue, 31 Oct 06 06:36:06 -0500

Every company claims their network would work in the event of an emergency. AT&T has been running test to prove it. The event will show what happens when a South-Florida central office (CO) is destroyed by a natural disaster.

AT&T's industry-leading mobile, full-readiness NDR team allows AT&T to swiftly recover data and switched facilities in the U.S. and AGN nodes in our global network. An NDR exercise demonstrates the network disaster-recovery process, from the initial mobilization of team members to transport of equipment and turn-up and testing of service. AT&T draws on experience and insights gained from these exercises to continuously refine its disaster- response systems and strengthen its business-continuity services.

South Florida is no stranger to natural disaster, and it's estimated the 80% of the businesses in Dade County have business-continuity plans in order. AT&T has invested over $300 million on its' Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) operations since 1990.
