Recently AT& T announced that they are going to be hiring 2,000 employees and are planning on spending 620 million dollars to upgrade their network in Michigan over the next three years. AT&T cites House Bill 6456 as the catalyst for this decision. This will give residents another choice for their cable programming needs by providing fiber optic cable and internet services.
"The legislative leaders supporting House Bill 6456 deserve high praise for their bipartisan effort to reform our state's antiquated cable franchising system, We stand ready to make a historic investment in network and human capital in Michigan. Video reform legislation holds great promise for our state, and we look forward to delivering new video options to Michigan consumers. Michigan consumers deserve a new choice for video service, and HB 6456 can deliver the innovative products and competitive values they desire, When companies compete in any sector, consumers win." said Gail Torreano, President of AT&T Michigan.
AT&T is planning on having around 1,200 jobs in place before the end of 2007.
