AOL Europe Chief Makes Quick Exit

AOL continues to have troubles in their access division, and now the recently hired chief is leaving, after only 6 weeks on the job.

AOL said Thursday that Carlo d'Asaro Biondo's departure was unrelated to layoffs announced at the company's Dulles, Va., headquarters on Wednesday, nor was it connected to a major restructuring that is leading to the sale of the company's Internet access businesses in Europe.

Biondo said he was leaving for a greater opportunity, but did not appear to specify what that opportunity is. Philip Rowley, 54, now chairman of AOL Europe, will assume d'Asaro's duties from this point forward.
