Verizon is not only trying to make the world a better place by offering advanced communications, they are also reaching out to help the communities that they serve. Verizon recently announced that they are donating a total of 15 million dollars to help the residents and firefighters in California. Verizon is donating $5,000 to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, which helps firefighters and their families. Another $10,000 was donated to the Red Cross to help families that lost their homes and belongings in the recent fires.
"Our prayers and hopes go out to our fellow Californians as they strive to cope with the impact of these firestorms," said Verizon Pacific West President Tim McCallion. "We urge Verizon employees to contribute to these very important causes through the Verizon Foundation program that doubles their generosity by matching donations dollar for dollar."
If you're interested in donating to either of these non-profit agencies, you can do so at: Wildland Firefighter Foundation or Red Cross - Riverside County
