Server memory upgrade
In a network, with time, usually the number of clients increases. And this means more workload for the server. It needs to satisfy an increased number of requests of more clients and keep them operational smoothly. And all this without jamming the system out. This is precisely why server memory upgrades may become necessary from time to time.
Sometimes companies wrongly look in to the financial implications and give it more importance than they actually need to. Because there should not be any compromises with memory upgrades ? after all, it has direct bearing on the productivity and thus the companies? revenue line.
Networks in companies that are growing at a good rate need to change to keep the computer system operating at peak performance levels. Thus while making the upgrades, it is needed to set up the system in such a manner so that all future upgrades can be carried out smoothly as well, based on the needs of the company. Thus a long-term vision is necessary. However sadly, in most cases this is not what happens. Many companies go for upgrades to get them through the next 6 months and do not consider what will be needed for the network past that point. As a result, these companies end up spending more than what was needed if only they had planned better and had the vision to look past 6 months, which can anyway pass in a jiffy.
While upgrading their servers, most companies turn to the company who manufactured the server in the first place. While the manufacturer might meet the need, but the reality is that additional RAM would come at a high cost. Then there are those who opt to buy from third-party suppliers. In such cases, the savings can be good, but the problem lies in the quality of the RAM, and you really do not want to compromise on this.
But there are those who opt for a third option, which is buying from the RAM maker directly. This means that there will be the guarantee and also the cost will be lesser.
