Verizon introduces VoIP Security Assessment Service

Verizon is at it again, this time with a serious VOIP offering for business. The company has sued Vonage and is going after a different market segment with their VoIP Security Assessment Service.

IDC expects the demand for VoIP services to grow from $2.9 billion to $6.9 billion in the next five years, particularly as the industry learns more about the risks to the corporate network created by VoIP adoption.

There are huge gaping holes in most commercial VOIP systems. Verizon has plans to assess and control the damage. Recent troubles concerning fraud on the Net2Phone network point up just how much of a problem this can be if left unchecked.

Verizon has been slow to market VOIP services, but that seems to be changing.
