Verizon Fios

Verizon Fios is Verizon's entry into the fiber optic game. In select cities, FIOS is installed, and early reports of the service are impressive. FIOS gives Verizon a chance to enter the high definition television market as well as expand on their role as a leading network provider, because of the capacity of fiber optic networking.

Verizon FIOS TV service is a planned high-definition TV service that potentially threatens the existence of the cable companies. The picture is much sharper than a traditional service.

Verizon FIOS also offers Video on Demand, with the ability to freeze pictures, rewind, and do almost everything but record the content. FIOS is a next generation technology that makes traditional television pale in comparison.

The set-top box (generally a Motorola model) overs DVR with up to 30 or more hours of recording. This should accomodate most home users, and future versions will likely contain more storage. With the picture clarity and DVR capabilities, Verizon FIOS is likely to succeed in any areas it's being offered.

Another notable feature of FiOS is Verizon FiOS Internet service which offers blazing fast speeds of 30Mps/5Mps! Prices start at $44.95 per month and promise to deliver internet access at rates only dreamt of a few years ago.
