Verizon expands FiOs coverage

The reality of a high speed fiber optic connection from Verizon is becoming more common. Verizon offers Fiber Optic connectivity through FiOs, which is using FTTP (Fiber to the Premises) technology to wire the houses.

Verizon's big push into high speed fiber technology involves positioning themselves for growth in the burgeoning digital video field. As more people install digital televison sets, Verizon expects its' network will carry more of the data and video traffic. Faster connection speeds mean more options for end users.

Verizon FiOs is being tested in the following places:

  • Keller, Texas
  • New York
  • California
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts

Fiber Optic technology allows users to download much larger data files at much faster speeds. Couple with DVR technology, video on demand and other promised technologies become instant reality. With faster access to homes, Verizon is positioning themselves for the coming digital revolution.
