Verizon Cable

Verizon cable is a term that refers to what people would expect Verizon to offer for internet access. But technically, the term Verizon Cable is not accurate. Verizon doesn't offer cable internet access, but instead goes one step further with a product called Verizon FiOS, which is a fiber optic internet connection, making it even faster than Verizon cable would be.

Verizon FiOS was originally set up to be a competitor to rival cable companies in terms of TV programming and high-speed internet access, and is superior in many ways.

Verizon's $23 billion build-out of their FiOS network has proceeded at a rapid pace. The company negotiates franchises with local municipalities, and once agreements are reached, roll out the Fiber Optic connections in the area. They've been able to add cities at a fairly frenetic pace.

So the next time you're looking for Verizon cable, look instead for Verizon FiOS, the high-speed alternative.
