Palm PDA

Palm is a market leader in Palm OS handhelds, software and accessory solutions. Here are the popular models from this company.

PalmOne? Zire? 72

This is a neat palm-sized handheld computer but it does not have WiFi. With an Intel? PXA270 processor running 312-MHz, it is really quite fast and can store quite a lot of addresses and appointments in Word, Excel and Acrobat.

The Zire 72 user can access 32-MB of SD-RAM. Its expansion slot stores photos and videos, MP3 files and other data on tiny Secure Digital/SDIO and multimedia cards. The voice recorder helps users take down notes and reminders. You can easily upload all files from the Zire 72 to the computer and e-mail photos, notes and audio.

When it comes for multimedia applications, the Zire 72 is amazing. It has a built-in 1.2 mega pixel camera. With it, a user is able to store photos and videos and display them immediately on the 16-bit, 320 by 320 transreflective TFT display or transfer them to the computer to email or publish online.

The PalmOne Zire 72 can also communicate with nearby devices with integrated infrared and Bluetooth?. However it is not friendly to Hotspot and WLAN communications.

PalmOne Zire 31

Another popular model, the Zire 31 is the basic PalmOne PDA at anywhere from $25 to $50 less than Tungsten E. It runs at 200-MHz, which is very fast for a handheld computer. With 16-MB, the 31 Zire has more than sufficient memory. And with a SD/MMC expansion slot, the user has access to about 20,000 PalmOne applications.

It has a built-in MP3 and RealOne? jukebox. And once a user has filled up a few tiny Secure Digital memory cards, he will have enough music to last a lifetime.

The magic of the Zire 31 is in the simple connectivity cable and an Infrared port, each of which permits the users to generate data from the PC and upload the input.
