What is V.92?

Finalized by the ITU-T in the year 2000, v.92 was the main successor to v.90. V.92 offered improvements over v.90 in these ways:

• An upstream of 48Kbps compared to 33.6 for v.90
• Uses Pulse Code Modulation (PCM)
• Uses V.44 compression
• Uses QuickConnect to speed up logins
• Can be used at the same time as Call Waiting without dropping the call
