A hotspot is a place from where someone can connect to the Internet without wires.

How fast is wireless Internet? This depends on the configuration of your laptop, which will be either 11 or 54 mbps. To get on the Internet through WiFi, your device must be WiFi enabled, which means that you should have either by a built-in connection or an add-on card like a WiFi PCMCIA adapter. Usually it must run with the 802.11b protocol, operating at 11 Mbps, or 802.11g, operating at 54 Mbps. Usually, most devices that support 802.11g is backwards compatible.

How secure is wireless Internet? Well, this is an area that has disturbed quite a few. By nature, wireless networks are not very secured. While the log in and password data is encrypted, but most other traffic passing through the wireless system can be intercepted.
