The evolution of the internet isn't just growing in America, more and more places are getting wired (and unwired) to connect the internet.
Today GigaBeam Corporation announced that they've received an order from InnovatIF Telecoms to provide 5 WiFiber Links in Africa. InnovatIF is a major provider of WiFi, WiMAX and proprietary technology solutions throughout Africa.
GigaBeam WiFiber products operate in the 71-76 GHz and 81-86 GHz radio spectrum bands. This portion of the radio frequency spectrum has been authorized by the Federal Communications Commission and the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) for wireless point-to-point commercial use. Use of these frequency bands for commercial use was pioneered by GigaBeam's founders.
InnovatIF plans to use these links to provide wireless coverage in Central and West Africa. A wired network is far more expensive and time consuming to build, so WiFi provided by Gigabeam makes a lot of sense for the region, WiFiber can be up and running in as little as one day.
