Today Earthlink announced that they are offering freestanding DSL service that doesn't require subscribers to carry phone service in order to utilize the Digital Subscriber Line. The only American state that won't have access to this unique offering is Georgia.
Freestanding DSL from Earthlink will first be marketed to consumers in parts of California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington state, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia, and Wisconsin. This is all Verizon coverage territory.
Pricing for Earthlink's Freestanding DSL starts at $14.95 a month for up to 1.5 Mbps of high-speed Internet. For up to 3.0 Mbps of high-speed access, prices start at $19.95.
