If you're like most people on a broadband connection, you crave speed in your web surfing experience. It's not hard to understand why. Waiting around for web pages, especially ones running flash graphics, can have long load times unless your connection is quick. For this reason, people have been looking for ways to tweak their speed for years. There are a number of downloadable software utilities that promise to significantly increase the speed of your broadband connection. What do these software programs magically do?

Basically the downloadable programs will automatically tweak your Windows settings (your INI files) to change your TCP/IP settings, such as your MTU size. Depending on how un-optimized your broadband connection was, this may have a material effect on your performance. However, this programs may also be unreliable. In the long run, it's a much safer idea to manually change your configuration settings yourself, based on optimal tested values, and not leave it up to an unknown utility to do it for you.
