Information on cheap broadband access.
Broadband is ‘in’ as an option for many users and with the prices going down, the scenario is getting even better. Today, broadband prices for consumers in the UK are as cheap as in France, Germany or the USA, according to new research from telecoms regulator OFTEL. According to the organization, prices of business broadband services are going down with every passing year.
OFTEL claims that as consumers get a better deal, more and more small and middle users are feeling encouraged to try it out. Thus, the percentage of people seeking broadband is on the rise. The prices for digital subscriber line (DSL) have fallen dramatically, while user numbers has increased by 50%.
According to data, UK now has more than 600,000 broadband connections and OFTEL estimated that more than 20,000 new connections were coming up every week. David Edmonds, OFTEL director-general had this to say... “OFTEL's latest benchmarking research shows that the UK is moving up the broadband league. The UK is as cheap or cheaper for consumer broadband than all countries surveyed except Sweden.
Here is the report of another survey carried out by the market research company Netsurvey. In the survey, the company asked Swedes who connect online from home what they considered to be a reasonable price for a broadband based Internet access. Of the respondents, 73% said up to SEK250/month. Only about 14% of the respondents were ready to pay more than that. 10% answered that they wanted the access to be provided free of charge. Thus, a vast majority of those who go online in Sweden are not ready to pay more than SEK250/month for a broadband access service, according to the survey.
It also concluded that most of the respondents currently paid SEK150-350/month for their Internet connection. As much as 56% of the respondents had a broadband connection through a cable modem, ADSL or ISDN at home.
