Digital Subsciber Lines or DSL has been widely marketed by the major phone carriers to end users in the last several years. It offers a few advantages of traditional dialup access, including:

- Frees up a telephone line
DSL is being marketed primarily through low, initial pricing and free equipment and setup. Prices vary nationally based on carrier, but tend to stay in a relatively fixed range.

- Network Interface Card (NIC)
- Router
Speed ranges from 128KPS to 1.54 MPS speeds. Each speed range represents an increased price. Availablity depends on distance from the house to the Phone Company Central Office (CO).
